what is guasha?

Gua sha is a healing technique of traditional East Asian medicine. Gua Sha was first referred to in a classical Chinese medicine text called first referred text in the Shan Han Lun dated 220 CE. Gua sha is defined as instrument-assisted unidirectional press-stroking of a lubricated area of the body surface to intentionally create transitory therapeutic petechiae called ‘sha’ representing extravasation of blood in the subcutis. Guasha improves the circulation of blood and fluids and qi(body energy).

The benefit of Facial guasha is stimulating circulation, helping produce collagen, decreasing inflammation, diminishing dark circles, releasing tight facial muscles, giving a more sculpted face, reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

For beginners, facial gua sha is recommended to be used once a week, but how often you use it depends on your skin type and your skin's tolerance for the method. Once your skin and technique get used to it, it's okay to use it 2-3 times a week. Then, once you get used to it, you can use it every morning for 5 minutes.
